Let Me Tell You A Story All About The House Rent Blues

Published by dletus at 7:03 pm under George Thorogood, Rock (General) Edit This

The Rockblogger lost his day job today. You know, the one that pays the bills.

I can’t say it was a total surprise. The company had barely shipped anything since the beginning of the year and I knew my job as Technical Author was considered “overhead” by many of the head honchos. That still doesn’t make it any easier.

I could tell you what I think the next couple of months are going to be like, but I think George Thorogood and the Destroyers can probablly do a better and more entertaining job of it. I was just listening to the song in the following video, “One Bourbon, One Scotch, and One Beer”, in the car yesterday afternoon.

Change the second line of the song to “I came home one Monday and I had to tell my landlady I done lost my job” and the rest sounds like my story.

Sorry to hear about the job, it’s happening to so many people. Good luck as you hunt for another job. Keep at it.

Sorry to hear about the job thing; this economy’s absurd. I ended up stalling by applying for a temp job with the U.S. Census; I get the impression from your riffs that it might be an option for you as well, and it’s something to do while looking for something a little more permanent.

Whatever you end up doing, good luck!

Thank you all for the kind messages.

Fingers crossed, I might already have something lined up with a company I used to work for. I sent an e-mail asking if a job I saw through an agency was with their company. My old boss and his boss both e-mailed back saying it wasn’t, but they do have an open position and asked me if I was interested. I’m going out to talk to them tomorrow afternoon.
