Noel Gallagher: Oasis Aren’t Rock and Roll

Published by dletus under Oasis, Status Quo Edit This

Maybe Oasis guitarist Noel Gallagher didn’t come right out and say his own band isn’t rock and roll, but that’s what the Rockblog read from his comments directed at Status Quo guitarist Francis Rossi.

Two days ago the Rockblog blogged about comments Rossi made about Oasis. Among the comments Rossi made was: “What always comes to mind is Oasis. They call themselves a rock band and they stand there looking at the floor. Bored shitless they look. I’m not saying they’re a bad band, but that to me isn’t rock ’n’ roll.”

Now The Sun reports Noel Gallagher came back with:  “Normally I wouldn’t give a rat’s arse what Status Quo have got to say about anything.

“But tell those wankers from me that when I go on stage at Wembley next summer, I won’t be wondering about what the poster boys for Help The Aged think.”

Which brings up the question about what Noel will be thinking of when he’s on stage. Judging by what I’ve seen, it looks like he’s wondering if he should have tried the prawn cocktail before the show. Either that or the band’s keeping an eye to make sure their shoe laces don’t come untied during their performance.

Noel makes no remarks about NOT being bored shitless on stage or NOT not being rock and roll. It can only be assumed Rossi’s statements are true, even if he is an old git.

What amazes the Rockblog is that among the influences cited by Oasis are The Who, Sex Pistols, and the Stooges. How can a band have influences like that and end up being so boring? Oasis must put too much emphasis on their main influence - The “Be-dulls”.
